I am Kari Estrada and I am thrilled to continue on as the Director of Instrumental Music at Western Sierra! I am a passionate educator and musician residing and performing in Sacramento California. I hold a Bachelor’s of Music in Music Education and Trombone Performance and a teaching credential from Sacramento State University, graduating with Summa Cum Laude honors as a member of Mu Phi Epsilon music fraternity and Pi Kappa Lambda Honor Society. I have worked as an educator for various music organizations in Northern California including the Sacramento Mandarins, Tim’s Music, Sacramento Children’s Chorus and Cazadero Music Camp. I have also worked with the California Music Educators Association for the State Solo and Ensemble Festival as an organizer and adjudicator. In addition to teaching, I have performed professionally as a trombonist with Folsom Lake Symphony, Auburn Symphony, Sierra Nevada Wind Orchestra, Joe Mazzaferro Big Band, Camellia Symphony, Symphony D’Oro, Sacramento Youth Symphony, Opera Modesto, Sacramento State Orchestra, Sacramento State Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Camerata California, Cosumnes River College Orchestra, and American River College Orchestra. In 2022, I was invited to conduct the Amador-Calaveras Bi-County Middle School Honor Band. Additionally, I will be a guest conductor at Cazadero Music Camp in the summer of 2023.
I love animals, traveling, the great outdoors, family, fitness and the arts. I have a loving husband (who is also a musician/music educator), an Eddy Spaghetti (who is the best pup), and two cats named Daphne (Doofne) and Selene (our queen, supreme) who bring us so much joy.
I am looking forward to another wonderful year working with the students of WSCA - these kids are dedicated, driven, compassionate and simply a joy to teach. Our program will continue to grow and thrive thanks to these awesome kids and this supportive community!
